Blu Boys settle for 2nd in Asian bash

   OKAYAMA, Japan – The Philippine Blu Boys could not do anything right and absorbed a 0-7 beating at the hands of Japan on Sunday to settle for runnerup honors in the 11th Asian softball championship in Niimi City here.

Despite the loss, the Blu Boys made it to the world championship scheduled in Auckland, New Zealand in March next year.

The Blu Boys kept the Japanese scoreless in the first two innings, only to get buried under an avalanche of runs as the defending champions erupted for five runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth.

   HOUSTON, TEXAS (USA) – The International Softball Federation held their Special Congress to consider and vote on a resolution to combine with Baseball (the International Baseball Federation) for the 2020 Olympic Programme. Even with travel concerns with Hurricane Sandy, the ISF experienced a good turnout among their national softball federations.
