The Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines is set to retrace the formula that made the Philippine Blu Girls the third best women’s softball team in the 70s.
AsaPhil secretary general Danny Francisco last Thursday announced during the SCOOP Sa Kamayan On Air that the Blu Girls, who recently had reaffirmed their fourth place standing in the Asian Women’s championship held in Taipei will be sent to the United States for a three-month training stint in preparations for the coming 17th Asia Games in Incheon, South Korea.
Bacolod City brought home the victory after seizing the gold medal at the Batang Pinoy Softball Championships on January 28 to February 1, 2014 at the Bacolod City National High School. The Bacolod team won after snatching a thrilling 6-3 victory over team Pasig City.

The Blu Girls reached the play-off stage after beating Hong Kong and Korea but were beaten by Taipei for the third place. According to ASAPHIL president Jean Henri Lhuillier who accompanied the team, the Blu Girls have shown a lot of improvements in terms of speed and batting but have to work on overall fielding accuracy and fitness.

LONDON (UK) - The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) campaign to be included in the 2020 Olympic Games has received a major boost with official opening weekend activities at the first dedicated national baseball and softball venue in Britain.
The World Cup of Softball, hosted by ASA/USA Softball and sanctioned by the ISF, finished with Japan earning the gold, USA the silver, and Australia the bronze. Canada and Puerto Rico rounded out the field of teams. Competition was tight with close scores and upsets; after round robin play, three out of five teams ended with a 4-1 record. ESPN broadcasted the tournament across its family of networks for coverage in more than 140 countries. Games which were not shown live on ESPN were available through web streaming.
