Bubuksan na sa darating na Linggo ang pinalaking Asaphil 2012 National Open Softball Championships sa Clarkfield, Pampanga.
Aabot sa 31 koponan, kasama ang tatlong foreign teams mula Indonesia at Brunei, and kasali sa torneo.

“This will be a big boost for Philippine softball. For the first time, we will have two divisions each in both the men’s and women’s competitions, the Open Division will feature teams mostly with national players while the Club Division will provide an opportunity for other teams to compete at their own level,” wika ni Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) president Jean Henri Lhuillier.

Mangunguna sa mga dayuhan ang Kensei Club na pag-aari ng Prinsesa ng Brunei at katatampukan nina dating Philippine national players Apol Rosales at Edzel Manuel bukod sa isang malakas na Canadian pitcher. Ang mga dating Blu Girls na sina Esmeralda Tayag at Dione Macasu and babandera sa Papua Province team ng Indonesia.

Ang torneo ay suportado rin ng Cebuana Lhuillier, Cebuana Pera Padala, Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions, Cebuana Lhuillier Bank, Just Jewels, Le Soleil de Boracay, Phiten, TJ Hotdog, Purefoods Chicken Nuggets, Smokey’s Sausages, Hungry Juan, Department of Tourism - Region 3 at Clark Development Corporation. – Mike Lee.
