The International Softball Federation (ISF) β Softball Confederation Asia held an
Umpire Certification Course last September 2 β 6, 2010 in Prathumtani, Bangkok,
Thailand which aims to inform the Asian umpires of the latest trend in umpiring.
Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines delegates joined the five-day course
that allowed them to revisit, check, and adopt the ISF mechanics and officiating
fundamentals. And further create a unified interpretation of the rules. For the first time, the ISF-SCA offered the Umpire in Chief Certification Course wherein
the senior umpires from different countries were trained to teach the new umpires
and equip them in assessing the performance of the crew on the field.
βIn behalf of the umpires in the country I would like to extend my deepest appreciation
to our president, Mr. Jean Henri Lhuillier for the exposure and training,β said
Paulo Tabirara, Head Teacher I. I am hoping that there will be more National Umpiring
Clinics to standardize the officiating in our country, he continued.
